Tatwana

Tatwana was created out of the international community of artists from Tepoztlán, central Mexico in 2003 and is an instrumental/ vocal musical group formed by musicians of three different nationalities. (USA, MEXICO and SPAIN). They have a wide artistic path both nationally and internationally.

They combine various musical styles such as; EURO/JAZZ, LOUNGE, TRANCE, AMBIENT, ETHNO/ELECTRONIC, with a touch of Classical and Bossanova. However what most defines their style is WORLD MUSIC, where the ancient cultures meet with new technologies, generating an attractive, rich, unique sound.

XAVIER KARASUSAN (northern Spain)
Keyboards, accordion, voice and trumpets. Xavier a self taught musician, emerged from the folklore of his natal country. His music was later influenced by Celtic, Baroque, and Tibetan sounds fusioned into rhythms such as; Blues, Funk, Jazz, Electronic and Lounge.

Jim Doney (Seattle, USA) World Percussion.
He obtained his masters degree in World Percussion at the California Institute of Arts, in Los Angeles California. He plays a wide variety of percussion instruments from different parts of the world and is a recognized jazz drummer that has studied under legendary musicians such as: Ed Blackwell, Charley Haden, Bill Higgins, Carl Berger, Don Cherry, and Jack DeJohnette.

Marite Sax (Mexico City)
She is the main voice of TATWANA, and also plays Tenor, Alto, and Soprano Saxophones and Flute. She studied music at The National Conservatory of Music in Mexico City, and has collaborated with prestigious artist musicians such as: Vicky Carr and Juan Gabriel. Her music has been enriched by her touring and performing in Brazil, Greece, The USA and Mexico.

Each of these talented artists are experts in their fields, creating the trade mark that is TATWANA, which makes possible the amazing quality of music they produce, being perfect for different types of atmospheres and audiences where they leave their touch of professionalism and distinction.

TATWANA doesn't pretend to create a commercial music genre. Their purpose is to design an artistic sound ambiance for each specific event or ceremony, performing in their unique style compositions of great musical masters such as: Miles Davis, Dead Can Dance, John Coltrane, Lorena Makenith, A. Carlos Jobim, Jan Garbareck.
